21st July, First Enrolment Meeting

Initial Thoughts

Before the meeting, I anticipated low attendance from the household workers. Given their limited access to technology and digital platforms, our outreach to them had to be through physical means. Based on my earlier experience with data collection, I believed that it would take time for the word to spread among the household workers and that they would only begin attending after the first meeting.

Results and Learnings

Despite expectations for low attendance, the turnout was even lower than anticipated with only 12 workers present out of the expected 52. Delays in the enrollment process occurred as 8 of these workers did not have PNB bank accounts, a requirement for immediate enrollment. These accounts take at least a week to set up, so their enrollment was postponed until the next meeting. The remaining 4 workers were enrolled in the schemes and were motivated to spread the word to their family and friends, leading to the hope for a higher turnout at the second meeting. The enrollment of these 4 workers, along with the promotion of Project Suraksha within their social circles, marked a successful outcome of the first meeting.
