I’ve always believed that the people who work hard to build something deserve a solid safety net. Factory workers are at the heart of our industries, yet so many of them lack basic financial security. This reality struck me when I learned about Project Suraksha, a social initiative that helps workers enroll in government schemes for things like health insurance, life insurance, and pensions.
When I first heard about Project Suraksha, I realized how much it could help factory workers. These people work long hours in tough conditions, and many don’t even know about the government schemes available to them. If they do know, they might find the enrollment process too complicated or time-consuming. That’s why I think this initiative is so important—it simplifies everything and ensures workers get the help they deserve.
Why Factory Workers Need Support
In my experience, most factory workers face big challenges. Many live paycheck to paycheck and have little to no savings for emergencies. A medical issue or accident can throw their whole family into crisis. What’s worse, most of them aren’t even aware that affordable schemes like the Atal Pension Yojana (pension for retirement) or Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (life insurance) exist.
I’ve seen how life-changing these schemes can be. For example, I met a worker who enrolled in the Ayushman Bharat health scheme through Project Suraksha. Just weeks later, their child needed surgery, and the scheme covered most of the costs. This kind of impact is what makes me passionate about spreading the word.
